Between Cayeux-sur-Mer and Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, the Maison de la Baie de Somme et de l’oiseau invites you to find out all about a very special territory and its distinctive fauna.
Come learn how the Baie de Somme’s estuary and the animal world inhabiting it interact.

You can observe over 250 species of naturalized birds displayed in the meticulously recreated natural settings of the Picardy coast. A unique opportunity to examine their silhouettes, plumage, and colours, and the shape of their beaks and feet… all characteristics which are difficult to discern in nature.

The Baie de Somme is also composed of infinitely smaller living beings which also deserve close attention. Take a fresh look at this perpetually mutating expanse in our projection room. See the Atlantic harbour and gray seals, learn about the amazing records birds hold for speed and size long distance flight.

Over 120 reference works on birds and the environment, educational games, resin and wood sculptures, bird song recordings … there’s something to delight people both adults and children, amateurs and specialist alike.

From April to September, switch from your car to a bike and head off to discover the Baie de Somme. The best form of locomotion for soaking up the omnipresence of nature.
