Every summer, Amiens Cathedral is dressed anew in its original colours, thanks to a unique technological process. An unforgettable vision of how religious buildings must have looked in the past...
From 15 June to 21 September 2008
In the Middle Ages, the decorations carved on the doorways at the western end of the Cathedral of Notre-Dame d'Amiens were painted in bright and lively colours. Over time, the stone has lost its paintwork. Today, new technology allows coloured light to be projected precisely, restoring the façade to its multicoloured glory. The result of this magical but ephemeral colouring, created by Skertzò, is an exceptional glimpse of mediaeval architecture. A revelation, a moment of pure emotion.
