Corbie > Amiens on the Somme Valley cycle route
- 19km
- 2fishing zones
- 1lock house
Corbie > Lamotte-Brebière
First stage
The route starts at the boat stop, but you can also take the train to Corbie. In that case, follow the signs for centre-ville, then Fouilloy, and you’ll inevitably come across the river!
This stage is very well laid out and very smooth until Aubigny, where you’ll have to leave the towpath for a few hundred meters to the fishermen. The route is well signposted in both directions through Aubigny. There’s a lovely picnic area on the west side.
After Aubigny, the route follows the towpath through Daours to Lamotte-Brebière. A wild and quiet walk, with views over the ponds of the Somme Valley.
Lamotte-Brebière > Camon
second stage
The Lamotte-Brebière lock-keeper’s house is a must-see: this former lock-keeper’s house has been refurbished and now houses a seasonal business.
It’s the perfect place for a relaxing break. If the site is closed, you’ll find a bike shelter and picnic tables on site.
Shortly after the Lamotte-Brebière lock, the route diverges from the towpath, reserving a stretch for fishing enthusiasts. The route crosses the locality of “La Canardière” on a very rolling stretch.
At the end of this road, you turn right and arrive in Camon via a large park, where you can also take a break.
Fishing area: follow the signs
Towards Amiens, at the railroad underpass, you’ll have to leave the towpath. This area is reserved for Amiens fishermen. If you still wish to stay on the towpath, it’s best to bring your mountain bike. At this point, the towpath has not been reworked, and is narrow and grassy. Slow down or get off your bike if you come across fishermen.
Fishing area, nearby services, roadworks, alternative routes… follow the V30 Véloroute Vallée de Somme signs!
Camon > Amiens
Third stage
At Camon, the Somme Valley cycle route returns to the towpath on the right bank. This section was widened in 2024. Be careful at weekends when the weather’s fine, as this is a place frequented by many Amiens.
On the sides, you will discover the hortillonnagesthe market gardens and pleasure gardens in the heart of the city. You’re actually in the city, but you don’t really realize it!
Finally, Amiens Amiens Cathedral meanders through the landscape… you’re in Amiens!
Amiens is well worth a stop at least for the cathedral, but it’s also a great city to discover by bike. Numerous facilities make it easy to get around and discover the various points of interest: the Jules Verne house, the Picardie museum, the hortillonnages (boat tour and museum) or the zoo if you’re with the family!
