La vélomaritime®
La Vélomaritime links Roscoff in Brittany to Dunkirk in the north of France over a distance of almost 1,500km. A cycling experience with many attractions: capes, bays, dunes, cliffs… The route passes through 5 Grands Sites de France, 3 Unesco World Heritage sites and, above all, our majestic Baie de Somme and all the resorts of the Samarien coastline.
The Vélomaritime offers a wide range of possibilities and meets all expectations: cyclovoyageurs looking for a trip to discover great landscapes, families on a few stages of 2 or 3 days, or a sporting challenge in bikepacking!
From Mers-les-Bains to Fort-Mahon
77km in the Somme
The Vélomaritime follows the coastline through all the seaside and tourist resorts of the Somme: Mers-les-Bains, Ault and Bois de Cise, Cayeux-sur-Mer and Le Hourdel, Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, Le Crotoy, Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont, Quend-Plage and Fort-Mahon.
Don’t miss the Maison de la Baie de Somme, the Parc du Marquenterre and the Baie de Somme Grand Site de France.
In the Somme, the Vélomaritime itinerary has been developed and signposted. Only a few kilometers between Cayeux-sur-Mer and Hautebut remain to be improved.
Start and finish: Mers-les-Bains and Fort-Mahon
Length: 77km, 3 stages
Difficulty: easy for the Fort-Mahon / Le Crotoy and Le Crotoy / Cayeux-sur-Mer stages, a little more difficult for the Cayeux-sur-Mer / Mers-les-Bains stage as you approach the cliffs, but the beautiful views are well worth the effort!
Between Saint-Valery and Le Crotoy, try out the train option and climb aboard the Baie de Somme’s authentic and timeless p’tit train! Bicycles are welcome free of charge in a dedicated carriage.
