The Points-Nœuds network

Since spring 2023, the Baie de Somme Picardie Maritime Regional Nature Park has been operating a network of hubs around Abbeville.

It’s a signposting system straight out of the Netherlands and Belgium. The aim of a point-node network is to make it possible to travel throughout the country by following a network of numbered crossroads, giving priority to small roads and even some paths. At a certain number of crossroads, a beacon indicates the number of the crossroads and directions to the following numbers.

In practice, you define your own route according to the length you want, in a loop or in a line, noting the succession of numbers you want to follow to discover the hidden treasures of the area!

The “Somme à Vélo” network of node points is being tested around Abbeville. This signposting system allows you to discover the whole of the west of the département. The Baie de Somme, of course, but also the Bresle, Trie, Authie and Maye valleys. It extends into the Somme Valley as far as Long and Longpré-les-corps-Saints.

A paper map is available from Tourist Offices in the area. Don’t hesitate to drop in and ask for advice on how to make the most of this new waymarking system, which allows you to build your own routes à la carte, according to your level and your desires!

The Points Noeuds “Somme à Vélo” network project has been financed as part of the European Eurocyclo project, with the aim of gradually linking up Northern France! Two other French networks already exist in the North near the Belgian border.

Découvrir la Somme avec le réseau points-noeuds !

Le réseau Points Noeuds, c’est un système de balisage qui nous vient tout droit des Pays-Bas et de la Belgique. L’objectif d’un réseau points nœuds est de permettre de se déplacer sur tout le territoire en suivant un réseau de points numérotés permettant un maillage du territoire en privilégiant les petites routes et même quelques chemins. Ainsi, à un certain nombre de carrefours, une balise indique le numéro du carrefour et les directions vers les numéros suivants.

En pratique, on définit soi-même son parcours en fonction de la longueur souhaitée, en boucle ou en ligne, en notant la succession des numéros que l’on veut suivre pour découvrir les trésors cachés du territoire ! Mila et Aurélie vous font part de leur expérience dans cette courte vidéo !
