A dizzying ride
To the south of the Baie de Somme, the sand gives way to pebbles and we gain altitude.
The cliffs of Seine-Maritime rise from the Somme. Vertiginous, pearly-white, bathed in turquoise waters, you can enjoy the panorama as far as the eye can see.
With care, you can follow the coastal path marked out by the Federation or, for even greater safety, hire a guide like Olivier Hernandez (Sens Naturel), who will tell you all about the geological history of these 65-million-year-old cliffs during a Voyage aux falaises outing, and help you observe the local fauna: gulls, Fulmars and Peregrine Falcons.
Life at low tide
AT THE FOOT OF THE CLIFFS
For those with a fear of heights, another option is a nature outing at the foot of the cliffs to discover life at low tide with a Qualinat nature guide.
Discover the rock fauna, scan the sand, probe the pools and examine the shellfish: mussels, crabs, periwinkles, Chinese hats, as well as fossils, algae and anemones.
At the end of the 2-hour walk, we know all about their way of life.

LE BOIS DE CISE
The third option is to head for the Bois de Cise, a verdant setting nestled in the cliff face.
This site, protected from the wind and sea spray, allows lush vegetation to flourish: beeches, oaks, carpets of hyacinths and daffodils rub shoulders with Belle Epoque villas perched on their promontories.
Céline, from the Le Tréport-Mers Tourist Office in Ault, will show you the history of this seaside resort born in 1898, the Lumen and Fanfreluche villas, and take you to the Victor Hugo viewpoint…

OFFICE DE TOURISME D’AULT
“The Bois de Cise is an exceptional natural site. I’m going to tell you how this small natural wood, originally wild and deserted, became a renowned seaside resort during the Belle Epoque, under the impetus of a visionary who stopped at nothing to make this wood a famous resort”.
