Cayeux-sur-Mer, Le Hourdel

Flagship destination

To the south of the Baie de Somme, Le Hourdel (a hamlet of Cayeux-sur-Mer) and its emblematic white and green lighthouse mark the entrance to the Baie de Somme. This small fishing port, accessible by bike via a secure cycle path, is also the ideal place to watch for seals in the Baie de Somme.

Cayeux-sur-Mer isn’t just about pebbles, it’s also about beach huts, the white road, Brighton’s pinewood, fresh air and a huge sandy beach that can be explored for around 1h30 at low tide.

and beach cabins

One of the most emblematic coastal walks is undoubtedly the boardwalk that runs along the pebble beach at Cayeux-sur-Mer. Over 2 kilometers long, it runs from April 1 to September 30. It is lined with over 500 beach huts, all colorfully named. They are the emblem of Cayeux and a reminder of the sea-bathing era. Most are privately owned and used for shelter and storage of beach equipment, or to host aperitifs with friends. Some are owned by the town council and can be rented out. Numerous events take place on this famous boardwalk, such as the dinner cruise, which plunges us into the atmosphere of the 1900s.
