The henson
SMALL BAY HORSE
The Henson is a small, gentle, hardy horse with a golden coat. There are around 1,200 Hensons in France, including 200 at the Marquenterre site in the Bay of the Somme, the cradle of the breed. A new breed of horse created 30 years ago and officially recognized in 2003, Henson horses have become the emblem of a dream riding experience in the great outdoors. You can take full advantage of the landscapes of the Marquenterre, a 1000-hectare polder made up of pastures and wooded dunes, as well as back-coastal marshes.
An easygoing character
IDEAL FOR BEGINNERS
The Henson is a cross between Fjords stallions (of Scandinavian origin) and local mares of different bloodlines (thoroughbred, Anglo-Arab, French Saddle). He’s small, calm and sociable, ideal for beginners. He’s also very hardy, so he can spend the whole year outdoors.
Not to be missed:
A great autumn loop that takes Henson horses from their summer pastures to their winter quarters!
Henson horses are also renowned for their performance in horseball and polocrooss: an accomplished horse, we tell you!

FERME RELAIS DE LA BAIE IN PONTHOILE
Here in the Baie de Somme, people are looking for authenticity and serenity. Great moments of conviviality are shared around the table. I also take advantage of these moments to share my love of this region with them, telling them about the nearby Baie de Somme, explaining the history of the Henson, the little golden horse that was born here, and giving them tips for hiking…
