Travelling by bike
IN THE BAY OF SOMME
44 km of cycle paths on the Vélomaritime (EV4), 160km of signposted routes spread over 9 loops to discover the Bay of the Somme and the whole Picardy coastline. And if you want to go even further, there are also nodes on low-traffic paths and roads in the west of the Somme, with a network of 1100km. The terrain is gentle on the calves, except when approaching the cliffs south of the Baie de Somme!
On the different routes, we like: the wide open landscapes around the Baie de Somme; the small winding roads in “les froises” between Favières, Ponthoile and Saint-Quentin-en-Tourmont; the view of the cliffs from Le Hourdel and Cayeux-sur-Mer and the access to the beaches of Quend and Fort-Mahon!

Somme Valley
UP THE RIVER
In Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, you can cycle up the Somme River via the Vallée de Somme cycle route. Take the left bank (left if you’re going with the current, right if you’re going upstream) and cycle the 15 km fromAbbeville. The route is very smooth, and there are numerous picnic areas along the river.
Continue on to Long, then Amiens, and why not to the source near Saint-Quentin in the Aisne. The towpath is well-developed on 85% of the Somme river, and rolling on the parts that are not.
